Dal and chawal are probably the best combo meal, as firstly their preparation is less time consuming and secondly you will get all your portion of protein and carbohydrates from this meal. We will find different preparation of dal within India with each one of them has its own unique taste. But one common thing between these preparations is their spicy and tangy taste. But if i talk about Thai cuisine, then most of the preparation of the cuisine include the use of coconut milk, which gives it a very creamy taste and texture. Apart from enhancing the taste, coconut milk also increases the nutritious value of the food.
Cumin seed: 1 tsp
Green garlic: 3-4 Stems
Red chilies: 2-3
Boiled Tuvar dal: 1 cup
Coconut milk: 1.5 cups
Water: 2 cups
Chopped beans, carrots, potato, brinjal: 1/2 cups
Turmeric powder: 1/2 tsp
Red chilies powder: 1 tsp
Garam masala: 1 tsp
Dhaniya powder: 1 tsp
Salt: As per taste
Take one pan; add one T spoon of cumin seeds. Let it crackle.
Add 2 medium sized chopped onions
Then add 2-3 stems of green garlic and red chilies, fry it well.
Add all chopped veggies
Add 1/2 cups of water and add salt, let it boil.
Once it gets boiled add 1/2 cups of coconut milk and mix it well
Add boiled dal and all the spices
Adjust the consistency by adding little more water.
Dal is ready.
Basmati rice: 1 cup
Onion: 2 medium size
Ghee: 1 spoon
Oil: 2 spoon
Cumin seeds: 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds: 1/4th tsp
Coconut milk: 1.5cups
Take one pan add one spoon of ghee and 2 spoon of oil.
Add 1 tsp of cumin seeds, let it crackle,
Add 1/4th tsp of fenugreek seeds
Add 1 cup soaked basmati rice
Add 1.5cups of coconut milk and 1.5cups of water
Add salt as per taste
Let it boil for 10-15 mins
SERVE THIS RICE WITH HOT THAI DAL
Additional tips: i have used only tuvar dal, one can use mix dal like chana dal, masur dal and tuvar dal.
